  Dry Formula Powder Storage:
  

  • Location: Store the unmixed dry powder in an airtight container in a cool, dark, and dry pantry.
  • Freezing: For long-term storage, keep the dry powder in the freezer to prevent the fats from going rancid. Bring it to room temperature before mixing.

  • The Golden Rule: Never store or reuse leftover mixed formula.
  • Discard: Throw away any leftover liquid formula immediately after a feeding. Bacteria multiply rapidly in warm, wet bird food.

  • Sanitizing: Soak the equipment in a pet-safe disinfectant solution (like F10) or boiling water.

  Step-by-Step Feeding Process

  • Check Crop: Ensure the crop is completely empty before feeding again.
  • Weigh Chick: Use a digital gram scale before the first morning meal.
  • Calculate Portion: Feed exactly 10% of the chick's current body weight in ml (e.g., a 400g chick gets 40ml).
  • Position Chick: Place the chick on a stable, non-slip surface facing you.
  • Insert Syringe: Enter from the left side of the beak, aiming toward the right side of the throat.
  • Administer Food: Steady, gentle trigger presses timed with the chick's natural swallowing/pumping motion.

  • Hatching to Day 2: 1 part formula to 6 parts water.

  • Day 4 to Day 5: 1 part formula to 3 parts water.
